The Recourse home page on Substack with the first essay

Recourse is my publication on AI governance, cyber resilience and physical AI. Its line is simple: deployment outruns governance, and this is about who pays the price. I research and write it, and I designed its identity, from the wordmark to the diagrams in every essay.

The first essay: Zero-trust is not a product

Published on 20 June 2026. Ask most mid-sized companies whether they've adopted zero trust and many will say yes: they bought the identity platform, switched on multi-factor authentication, and licensed something with zero trust in the product name. The essay argues that zero trust is a philosophy most organisations were sold the wrong version of, and works through what the research actually shows.

Figures that argue

Each essay carries its own diagrams in the house style. The first shows what NIST changed in 2024: in version 2.0 of the Cybersecurity Framework, governance moved from a small box inside Identify to the function above all the others.

The identity

A serif wordmark over a hairline with a single notch in oxblood, the one mark that repeats through the essay headers, the diagrams, the profile and the email banner.
